Founded by the Muslim community in Japan, Chiba Islamic Cultural Center is an internationally crowd-funded project for the activities of Chiba’s Muslim residents. For its visual identity, we created a logo with design cues from minimalist Japanese designs and Islamic culture. The letter “C” represents the crescent moon—a symbol of Islam—and the letter “I” incorporated a rising sun symbol, representing the harmonious meeting between cultures.
CICC’s pictogram is made from thin lines, creating simple and easily understandable icons.
The signages for CICC use both Japanese and English. The information is displayed in 4 types of script, kanji, hiragana, katakana, and romaji (Latin script).
